Immunology

Dr. Kyle Malter earned a degree in Animal Science and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri. After graduation, Kyle worked in an equine and small animal clinic in North Carolina for one year before transferring to Iowa. He practiced in a small animal hospital in Des Moines for three years and then in a mixed-animal practice for two years.  In 2010 Kyle joined Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. as a Technical Services Veterinarian and later moved to pet marketing to work with vaccines and  pharmaceuticals for companion animals.  While at BIVI, Kyle studied at the University of Iowa, earning a Master of Public Health degree in 2015. He is also board-certified in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine.  In 2017 Kyle joined Elanco Animal Health as a technical consultant for companion animal vaccines. Kyle, his wife, Cortney and two children live in Smithville, Missouri.

Dr. Todd Kollasch is originally from north-central Iowa. After completing undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa in Iowa City in 1994, he attended Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Ames, IA and obtained his DVM degree in 1998, graduating with honors.  Dr. Kollasch was engaged in small animal clinical practice in Pittsburgh, PA and the surrounding area from 1998-2000. In 2000 he relocated to Memphis, TN and continued private small animal practice and emergency medicine in the University of Memphis area from 2000-2010.  In 2010, Dr. Kollasch transitioned to industry as a Technical Consultant with Elanco Animal Health. He currently holds the position of Regional Consulting Veterinarian for Key Accounts – North, with a secondary role in conducting post-approval studies in the U.S. Additionally, Dr. Kollasch has served on the Elanco Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) since 2016.  Dr. Todd Kollasch is a frequent lecturer on heartworm disease, parasite control, pain management, otitis externa, atopic dermatitis, infectious disease, and vaccinology.

Drs. Malter and Kollasch will be discussing a variety of immunology issues, including vaccinology, immunology, zoonotic disease and public health, Lyme disease, tick biology, and Leptospirosis.
